Access Control
Access control determines who may enter which doors, and when. Controllers, readers and software are installed to match how the building actually operates, and cabled into the same network as CCTV where events need to be correlated.

How a typical access-control engagement runs
01
Agree the door schedule
Credential types, after-hours rules and operator roles are agreed with facilities and security stakeholders before hardware is placed.
02
Install on the ICT plant
Controllers are powered and networked as part of the same design as the LAN and, where required, CCTV.
03
Hand over operations
Credential administration is documented for the client’s operators. Controller health and door events can be included in support.
Doors, credentials and the network they sit on
Multi-door design
Controllers and readers placed from how the building is used, not from a generic door schedule.
Credential types
Card, PIN, biometric and mobile credentials as specified — not a default product stack.
Visitors and contractors
Workflows for people who are not on the staff credential database.
Lifts and barriers
Included where the site requires them and the chosen platform allows it.
CCTV correlation
Cabling and network design so that door events can be reviewed against video where the brief asks for it.
Power and LAN
Controller power and network treated as part of the ICT design, not as an afterthought on the security quotation.
Multi-site environments
Policy and credential formats can be aligned across buildings so that staff moving between sites are not issued incompatible tokens, where the chosen platform allows it.
Related capabilities
These are quoted separately unless the brief asks for a combined design. They sit on the same ICT estate.

Common questions
Scope, handover and what is not implied by this page.
Do you specify a single access-control brand?
No. Controllers and readers are selected to the brief and to what facilities can operate. Existing platforms on the site are assessed before a replacement is recommended.
Is cabling included?
Network and power for controllers are treated as ICT. Structured cabling may be quoted on this engagement or as related plant, depending on what is already in the walls.
Discuss access control
Request a consultation for door control that is designed with the building schedule and the site network.
